Monte Carlo and Quasi-Monte Carlo Algorithms for the Barker-Ferry Equation with Low Complexity

چکیده
In this paper we study the possibility to use the Sobol’ and Halton quasi-random number sequences (QRNs) in solving the BarkerFerry (B-F) equation which accounts for the quantum character of the electron-phonon interaction in semiconductors. The quasi-Monte Carlo (QMC) solutions obtained by QRNs are compared with the Monte Carlo (MC) solutions in case when the scalable parallel random number generator (SPRNG) library is used for producing the pseudo-random number sequences (PRNs). In order to solve the B-F equation by a MC method, a transition density with a new sampling approach is suggested in the Markov chain.

In this work we solve the Barker-Ferry equation which accounts for the quantum character of the electron-phonon interaction in semiconductors in the framework of the Monte Carlo (MC) method. The first part of the work considers the zero electric field formulation of the equation in spherical coordinates. Different MC algorithms for solving the equation are suggested and investigated. In the sec...
متن کاملQuasi-Monte Carlo Methods in Computer Graphics, Part II: The Radiance Equation
The radiance equation, which describes the global illumination problem in computer graphics, is a high dimensional integral equation. Estimates of the solution are usually computed on the basis of Monte Carlo methods. In this paper we propose and investigate quasi-Monte Carlo methods, which means that we replace (pseudo-) random samples by low discrepancy sequences, yielding deterministic algor...

In this paper, we obtained some bounds for moments of order statistics from an arbitrary continuous probability distribution. This study considers a robust properties of correlated frailty models. The dependence between related individuals must be considered in order to be studied the difference between the gene information and the environment as causes of death. To do that, we can introduce th...
متن کاملSensitivity and uncertainty analysis of sediment rating equation coefficients using the Monte-Carlo simulation (Case study: Zoshk-Abardeh watershed, Shandiz)
The sediment load estimation is essential for watershed management and soil conservation strategies. The sediment rating curve is the most common approach for estimating the sediment load when the observed sediment records are not available. With regard to the measurement errors and the limitation of available data, the sediment rating curve has a degree of uncertainty which should be accounted...
